The Development Section coordinates all private development projects within the City. Projects involving the construction of single parcel improvements, residential and commercial subdivisions, and industrial projects, are monitored from the design phase through construction, and project completion.

Plans are reviewed to ensure that they are in conformance with Building Codes, City Ordinances, and provisions of the Subdivision Map Act. Routine inspections are conducted throughout the construction phase to ensure that the projects do not adversely affect the safety and welfare of the general public.

In addition, the Development Section provides assistance to: 

• The general public with their engineering questions and concerns 
• Homeowners with their engineering-related home improvement projects 
• Developers who are interested in developing a single parcel, major, or minor subdivision 
• Assign street addresses and approve street names 
• Processes parcel map waivers 
• Process all easements and right-of-way dedications
