Community Facility Districts Within the City of Pittsburg there are several Community Facility Districts. Through assessments, the Districts helps to provide funds necessary to construct or provide a variety of public improvements or public services in new development areas. Some of the services include street, sewer, water or utility improvements; lighting and landscaping; or police protection. Some of these districts have a limited life span and are terminated once the improvements are fully funded. GHAD District In 1995 the Pittsburg City Council approved the formation of the Geological Hazard Abatement District, GHAD. The purpose of the GHAD is to provide a means of financing necessary slope maintenance to reduce the risk of landslides in the City's hillside areas, to maintain certain drainage basins, and to establish a fund to help defray the cost of landslide repairs should a slide occur in the GHAD. |
