In an effort to encourage the development of relations between businesses, research and educational institutions, government policy and regulatory agencies and other organizations concerned with encouraging progress in economic development, the City of Pittsburg has formed and maintained Sister City and Friendship City relationships, collectively referred to within this document as “Relationships”. These Relationships join parties that have identified areas of common interest for cooperation, including, but not limited to: cultural development, business development and the facilitation of networks and partnerships. A Friendship City is considered the first stage in becoming a Sister City.
The City of Pittsburg currently maintains four Sister City relationships:

The Sister City Program is currently being overseen and supported by the Economic Development Department. In addition, an active Steering Committee will support the Sister City Program and the various Sister City and Friendship City activities.
