The Pittsburg Police Department Marine Unit is comprised of a sergeant and ten officers who proactively patrol the California Delta that borders the City of Pittsburg. Their mission is to ensure the safety of people who use the waterways for recreational purposes, along with assisting multi-agency enforcement operations that occur throughout the year. Utilizing a Moose Boat purchased with regional grant funds, the Marine Unit deploys during City events such as the July 4th Fireworks event and the Seafood Festival.
Marine Patrol Boat Specifications:
• 34’ Moose Boat with twin 300hp out-board motors
• Designated mutual aid vessel
• Area of operation stretches from Concord Naval Weapons Station to Antioch Bridge
• Equipped for body and personnel recovery
• Electronically equipped including FLIR night-vision thermal imaging system
