About the Citizen's Police Academy:
The Citizen's Police Academy provides community members with an inside look at the Pittsburg Police Department. The nine-week Academy is designed to give citizens an overview of the police department's function and operational procedures. The curriculum and teachings are real examples of police methodology and casework; however, are not intended to train students as police officers.
Academy classes will be taught by police executives as well as veteran police officers. Students will have the opportunity to meet with the Chief of Police as well as other department staff members. Students are encouraged to ask questions and to express ideas and concerns to the instructors.
