Location, Location, LocationThe City of Pittsburg is located just a short BART ride from San Francisco, in eastern Contra Costa County, between the Delta waters and the foot of Mount Diablo. The City is strategically located near a number of prestigious higher education institutions, such as UC Berkeley and UC Davis, and is the home of Los Medanos College, the sixth ranked community college in the nation. Pittsburg offers deep water channel access and an active community expected to grow by nearly 20,000 over the next two decades. Land in Pittsburg is also more affordable than other parts of the Bay Area, with an average land cost significantly lower than San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, while still close to these larger cities. |

BART-ablePittsburg is home to two Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) stations, making trips to San Francisco, Oakland, and other areas a breeze. In fact, BART’s “Fleet of the Future” cars are manufactured right here in Pittsburg.

CultureThere is a rich history of famous artists performing in Pittsburg. Whether it’s the many music legends such as Ray Charles and James Brown who performed at the clubs that once lined Black Diamond Street or at the Creative Arts Building, the musical history in this town is electric. Do you enjoy bites from under the sea with your music? Then you’re in luck! Each year, the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual Seafood & Music Festival. Since 1984, the event has attracted visitors from all over the state and promotes the rich history of Pittsburg’s fishing industry, which is credited with putting the city formerly known as the “New York of the Pacific” on the map. |

RecreationFrom youth sports to farmer’s markets to City-sponsored events, Pittsburg offers numerous recreational opportunities to people of all ages and abilities. Pittsburg is home to more than 300 acres of City-owned park land, as well as several miles of the regional Delta De Anza Trail connecting Pittsburg to nearby areas such as Walnut Creek and Concord, and adjacent to over 6,000 acres of regional park space, including the Black Diamond Mines Preserve and the future Concord Hills Regional Park and Trail system. The City’s location along the river delta also provides numerous opportunities for water sports, such as kayaking, fishing, and some of the best kiteboarding weather in the world! |
