To address the COVID-19 situation, the City of Pittsburg has cancelled its regular City Council meeting scheduled for March 16, 2020 at 7:00 pm. However, it will continue to hold a special meeting tonight at 7:01 pm to declare a local emergency in the City of Pittsburg.

As a result, City Offices will be closed to the public through April 7, 2020. Essential services will continue, including law enforcement, public works and the water treatment plant.

The closure may be extended to protect residents and city staff from possible exposure to the virus. These closures affect City facilities at City Hall (65 Civic Ave.), the Senior Community Center (300 Presidio Ln.), Environmental Services (2581 Harbor St.), the Corporation Yard (357 E 12th St.), Buchanan Pool (4150 Harbor St.) and Small World Park (2551 Harbor St.). Essential services, such as police services, remain functioning.

All City of Pittsburg meetings, events, and programs are cancelled or postponed through the April 7, 2020. Other closures in the City of Pittsburg include public schools, the Pittsburg Library, STS Academy, all park rental facilities and areas, and all public restrooms. In addition, the Contra Costa Health Services Department issued an updated Health order which requires the following:

• All persons to shelter at their place of residence other than to provide or receive essential services;
• Directing all businesses to cease non-exempt operations at physical locations;
• Prohibiting all non-essential gatherings of any number of persons;
• Ordering cessation of all non-essential travel

Many City Staff will be working remotely. To contact them, please use the City’s website, social media sites, email, or leave voicemail messages if you are unable to contact Staff directly.

The situation is changing rapidly. Please visit the City of Pittsburg’s webpage at http://www.pittsburgca.gov for the latest information.
