PG&E and Smart Lights Introduce Free Program to Save Businesses Cash

March 30th informational session to be hosted by City of Pittsburg

(Pittsburg, CA)  PG&E funded programs offers businesses free site surveys, upgrades, and advice and resources for money-saving energy improvements. These programs reduce businesses’ operating costs and help them “go green” at the same time by reducing their energy loads and carbon footprints. Pittsburg businesses can now take advantage of the “Smart Lights” program, which offers free start-to-finish technical assistance and cash rebates for installing energy-efficient lighting and certain refrigeration products. Typical financial incentives range from 60%-100% of total project costs depending on the measures implemented.

PG&E, the Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce and the City of Pittsburg are partnering to promote this program. Their goal is for this program to benefit as many Pittsburg businesses as possible and to ensure that local businesses do not miss out on this opportunity.
To launch the program, the City of Pittsburg will host a free informational session for Pittsburg businesses on Tuesday, March 30th, at 9:00 AM at City Hall. All businesses are welcome to attend and ask questions of the Smart Lights program staff. Please RSVP to 252-4129.

More About Smart Lights
Smart Lights is a program specially designed to help small businesses upgrade to energy-efficient lighting and refrigeration. Lighting can constitute as much as 50% of a business’s energy bill, depending on the facility type, and energy-efficient lighting can be a good way to reduce energy costs. New door gaskets, strip curtains, and other refrigeration measures are low-cost products that can help cut refrigeration energy costs, which are significant for types of retail and food service establishments.

Smart Lights will serve Pittsburg small businesses, small institution, and the common areas of multifamily buildings with five or more units. The process begins with a free, no-obligation site assessment. Smart Lights negotiates discounts with qualified installation contractors and pays rebates directly to the contractor to help minimize the business’s out-of-pocket costs. Interested businesses can learn more and download an application by visiting the Smart Lights website at www.smartlights.org or by calling Smart Lights at 510-981-7750.
