The City of Pittsburg has a rich and diverse community to which this Project would contribute vibrance. The community asked for improvements to Railroad Avenue, more green space, a welcoming gateway, and monuments to identify the community. Based on the community input, staff drafted a concept of community togetherness and pride that included:
- Beautification of the landscape with improvements that will bring color and guidance to Pittsburg Old Town.
- A new park with big Pittsburg Letters at 1595 Railroad Avenue.
- Hardscape simulating a dry creek along the sides of Railroad Avenue between Central Street and 10th Street.
- A welcoming gateway culminating on 8th Street and Railroad Avenue that lets visitors and residents know they have reached Old Town Pittsburg.
Please join us on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 5:30 at the Gateway Sign (760 Railroad Avenue, Pittsburg, CA 94565) to celebrate the successful project funded through the Clean California Local Grant Program.
