Zora! A free event at the Pittsburg Library

In honor of Black History Month

Zora Neale Hurston, American dramatist, novelist, anthropologist and folklorist said, “Mama exhorted her children at every opportunity to ‘jump at the sun.’ We might not land on the sun, but at least we would get off the ground.”  Hurston collected stories and songs from men women and children so the richness of African American oral storytelling could be preserved. 

On Saturday, February 20 at 1 p.m., listen to stories and songs collected by Zora Neale Hurston come to life through J.P. Myrick productions.  The event will take place in the Pittsburg Library and is held in honor of Black History Month.  All ages are welcome to attend this free program sponsored by the Friends of the Pittsburg Library.

The Pittsburg Library is located at 80 Power Avenue and is open Tuesdays 12-8 p.m., Wednesdays 10-6 p.m., Thursdays 1-8 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays 11-5 p.m.  Please call the library at 925-427-8390 for more information.
