Community Planning Meeting for Small World Park

The City of Pittsburg is actively seeking the public’s input on what features should be considered for any future expansion of Small World Park, and kicks off a series of public meetings at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 19 at the Pittsburg Senior Center to hear ideas.

Small World Park is a popular playground that appeals to families of young children. The park located at 2551 Harbor Street is known for its Ferris wheel, Train, Merry-Go-Round and Party Castle. Picnic areas, a pond and wide open areas for play make Small World a popular place to bring the family. The City is considering applying for grant funds in the next year or so, but first wants to hear ideas on what new features should be considered for the park.

The public workshop on March 19th will include group activities to brainstorm and provide input on new recreational opportunities at the park. The Senior Center is located at 300 Presidio Lane, across the street from Small World Park.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Participants will consider fun, safe public use and park beautification in considering a draft new site plan for Small World Park. The workshop location at the Senior Center was chosen because it is directly across Harbor Street from the park.

Future workshops or presentations to solicit input on Small World Park are planned for the following dates and times:

    · 10 a.m. to noon March 26, 2011 at Small World Park (includes park tour)
    · 7 p.m. April 6, 2011 at Community Advisory Commission (City Hall)
    · 10 a.m. to noon April 9, 2011 at Small World Park (includes park tour)
    · 7 p.m. May 10, 2011 at Pittsburg Planning Commission

Ideas from all workshops will be collected and shared on the City of Pittsburg website (ci.pittsburg.ca.us) and in an upcoming issue of Anchor Lines newsletter. For more information, contact Don Buchanan at the City of Pittsburg (925) 252-4000.

Thank you for participating!
